Sue Fletcher Haines died October 30, 2001, from injuries sustained after she was struck
by a car while running just blocks from her home in Sierra Vista. Sue had an immense impact on the TMRC and the Sierra
Vista / Fort Huachuca running community for over 20 years. Sue served multiple years as the TMRC president, and still
holds many Arizona state age-group records at various distances. She coached and led the Buena High School girls track team
from 1975 to 1988, including a state championship, a state runner-up finish, and 5 division/regional titles. She was
a U.S.A. Track and Field official, a member of the Women in Black (a nationally-ranked age-group basketball team), a hospice
volunteer and a volunteer at the Sierra Vista Community Hospital.
