Osorio, Morrison tops in Vigilante Days 10k race, August

TOMBSTONE -- Sergio Osorio of Nogales, Mexico held off Hugh Jorgen to win the
men's division of the 2002 Tombstone Vigilante Days 10k.
Osorio crossed the finish line in a time of 37:09, eight seconds better than
Jorgen at 37:17. Lonny Little was third overall at 37:57.
The women's overall was not nearly as tight as Paula Morrison ran away to
victory in a time of 39:39. Nancy Ulrich was second in 47:07 and Ann Densmore
was third in 49:46.
Osorio naturally won his age group, the men's 30-39 division ahead of Bob
Kennedy and Scott Young. Jorgen was the winner in the 19-29 ahead of Little and
Brian Hall. Robert Esquibel won the men's 40-49 ahead of Dan Quigley and Pedro
Santillaro. The 50-59 division was won by Buck Lentzer while Ed Mraz was second
and John Norris third.
David Mellady was first in the 60-69. Don Branaman was second and Harold Hawes
was third.
William Chaptelain was the lone finisher in the 70-plus division.
The boys 0-14 division was won by Aaron Newsome, who held off Toby Casey and
Mickey Martinez. The 15-18 division was won by Kevin Williamson with Larry
Collins second and Brandon Walls third.
On the women's side, Morrison won in the 19-29 division. Ann Densmore was second
and Lacey Enyart third.
Ullrich won the 30-39 group ahead of Barb Barsinger and Megan Heath.
Susan Ahres crossed the line first in the women's 40-49, besting Linda Tenny and
Jackie McCallister.
Karen Davis finished tops among women 50-59 with Cheryl Denson second and Jo
Sellinger-Smith third.
Patricia Delvecchio topped Sue Smith in the 60-69 and in the girls 0-14, Nikke
Herndon was the lone finisher.
Among girls 15-18, Danielle Reed was first, Krystal Cline second and Alicia
Maxwell third.
One-hundred eighty-five runners in all were entered. Twenty-five competed in the
2k fun run.
